Ricordo che un giorno ho fatto la tinta ai capelli per un film e un amico mi ha suggerito di tenerli in quel modo una volta finito il lavoro. L'ho fatto, mi sono guardato allo specchio e mi sono detto: "Ma che schifo!". Era come se avessi rinnegato me stesso...
Dunque sei molto sereno nei confronti dell'invecchiamento?
Non proprio, ma faccio di tutto per accettarlo e vivere meglio.
In che modo andare avanti nella vita ti rende un attore migliore?
Da giovane ero molto arrabbiato. Mi è passata ovviamente. Fare finta di essere ancora arrabbiato in quel modo non funzionerebbe.
Però sei un attore, dovresti saperlo fare per lavoro, no?
Vero, ma se c'è una cosa di cui vado fiero è che sono io ad accettare i progetti che mi offrono. Li ho scelti tutti io e ne sono orgoglioso. E ne sono anche responsabile. Totalmente. Poi mi riguardo e sembro bizzarro a volte. Ma non mi reputo tale!
Questo comunque non esclude che tu sia bizzarro...

(sorride) Cosa vuoi sapere? Cos'è l'amore per me? Mettiamola così, è un qualcosa di cui hai bisogno. Qualcosa che devi e vuoi provare. Detto questo, come vedete nel film, una relazione che dura per anni è un enorme compromesso. Ne vale la pena?
Già Vincent, ne vale la pena?
(sorride) Quando guardo i cartoni con i miei bambini, pellicole come La principessa e il ranocchio o Cenerentola sento che è tutto molto bello ma che alla fine stanno guardando una bugia. Quindi cerco di spiegargli che non è proprio così. Che questo è il modo in cui siamo stati educati, una cosa sociale che ci spinge a fare lo stesso. Tutti crediamo nel lieto fine, ma non va mai così. E' molto più complicato e se posso dirtelo: è molto meglio!

Far combaciare quello che sei, con quello che vorresti essere, con quello che le persone si aspettano da te. Tutto senza negare te stesso. Come si fa? Non smetto mai di chiedermelo!
E' la seconda volta nella tua carriera che sei diretto da una donna, cosa cambia nell'esperienza d'attore?
Essere filmato da una donna è un dono bellissimo per un attore. Perché vedo come mi ha idealizzato e reso più affascinante. Alcuni colleghi mi dicevano che non avrebbe funzionato tra me e Maiwenn, perché entrambi abbiamo personalità forti. E' andato tutto alla grande, mi sono divertito perché mi diceva chiaramente quando non le piaceva il mio lavoro: "Vincent sei pessimo! Oh la la!".

Adoro Viggo e il suo lavoro è straordinario. Non ci conosciamo benissimo, ma è una persona molto seria. Io non sono così, per me non si tratta di essere seri. Io mi diverto, per me recitare non è neanche un lavoro. In Francia diciamo "Jouer" che vuol dire letteralmente "giocare". Io sono così.

Oh io me lo auguro, ho letto la sceneggiatura ed è bellissima, ma non so se accadrà mai.
