Sono state soprattutto le donne e chi sostiene la parità di genere ad inferocirsi: che passo falso ha fatto Zara? Cosa ha comunicato, al posto del rispetto verso ogni tipo di sessualità? Partiamo dall’inizio. Ogni tanto le aziende si lanciano in iniziative dal senso innovativo e “moderno”, cercando di farsi carico di ciò che sta cambiando il mondo. Ogni tanto ci riescono, apparendo come promotori di lotte e ideali sociali od operazioni umanitarie. Ogni tanto, invece, mancano di brutto il loro obiettivo.

Sembrerebbe che Zara appartenga a quest’ultima categoria – da qualche settimana a questa parte. Il tema è la fine dell’idea della sessualità binaria (che vincola a un’appartenenza alla categoria di maschio o di femmina) e la volontà di rivolgersi ad un “genere fludio” attraverso una linea di abbigliamento che contenga capi non legati ad uno dei due sessi tradizionali.

Prima ancora della prevedibile discussione relativa a questa intenzione – ovvero la divisione tra chi trova che ci sia una forzatura nel non separare più uomini e donne e chi invece approva l’idea di vedere la sessualità come ricca di sfumature e possibilità – Zara ha scatenato polemiche intorno al fatto che la mossa sia risultata incoerente e maschilista.

Cosa è successo? Ungendered (dal nome inequivocabile) invece di rappresentare un’innovazione nell’ambito della dignità di tutti i sessi, come intendeva essere, sembra voler accettare un unico genere (maschile) e, anziché promuovere una pluralità di identità…parrebbe eliminarle (quasi) tutte.

Parliamo infatti di una collezione dallo stile “boyfriend clothes” (cosa che, peraltro non è nuova nemmeno nell’ambito puramente modaiolo): avete in mente l’immaginario, tipicamente maschile, per cui una ragazza è sexy quando indossa la camicia del “proprio uomo”, la mattina dopo una notte di fuoco? O quando, sempre gli uomini, erano impazziti per la pubblicità di Intimissimi con Irina con indosso i boxer di lui – invece che gli slip della collezione femminile? Ecco, non sembrerebbe che Zara, alla fine della fiera, si sia mossa da questo.

Felpe con e senza cappuccio, jeans strappati e dritti, magliette non sciancrate e monocolore. Il tutto, leggermente oversize. Nulla che indichi, insomma, una sessualità diversa da quella tipicamente maschile. “Unisex”, si diceva negli anni ’90, e di questo si tratta: invece di togliere il senso di “genere” – come il nome Ungendered suggeriva – la collezione indica e fa riferimento ad un unico genere: quello maschile.

Le modelle, infatti, appaiono androgine e “mascoline”, ma i modelli potrebbero sembrare posare per una qualsiasi linea di abbigliamento tradizionale, per esempio.

 

Un’altra cosa che ha fatto imbestialire il web – il quale si è rapidamente riempito di tweet polemici, articoli critici ecc. – è che la linea appaia, sul sito, come voce della macrocategoria TRF, linea giovanile, poco impegnativa…e al 100% costituita da abiti femminili.

In poche parole, Ungendered è una linea da donna. “Piccola” incoerenza che, naturalmente, non è passata inosservata.

Ultima nota dolente della collezione “saccagnata” è il fatto di essere totalmente anonima. Più basic del basic, ogni capo proposto è pensato per non trasmettere carattere o personalità: il tentativo sembra quello di apparire “neutri”.

E non c’è idea più grossolana della sessualità e del genere fluido di quella che pensa che si tratti di una negazione della sessualità – oltre che della personalità e dell’identità. Cercare di rivolgersi ad un pubblico “neutro”, asessuato e impersonale non può che rivelarsi controproducente.

Con l’abbigliamento, infatti, uomini, donne e soprattutto transgender intendono affermare la propria personalità – qualunque essa sia – e non negarla.

Sembrerebbe, infatti, che l’esigenza di una moda che non si presenti come necessariamente indirizzata per uno dei due sessi sia stata mal interpretata dal colosso spagnolo: Zara ha come pensato di voler colmare quel “vuoto” proponendo qualcosa che cercasse di non avere carattere – se non fosse che, come già detto, ricorda solo caratteri maschili.

In due parole, invece che eliminare ogni differenza e unicità – come ha scelto di fare Zara con Ungendered – l’idea dovrebbe essere quella di incarnare e farsi carico della promozione della pluralità di ogni identità: l’unica cosa che si vorrebbe eliminare, seguendo questa idea, sono le etichette.

Caratteri, colori, linee, modelli e forme che si adattino a qualunque corpo sono gli elementi vincenti di una linea di questo tipo.

E se state pensando “sì ok, tutto bello, ma come si potrebbe fare altrimenti”? C’è da ammettere che, qualcuno, un tentativo simile, l’ha fatto – paradossalmente attirando meno l’attenzione, ma riuscendo meglio nell’intento. Trattandosi di un brand i lusso, infatti, l’impatto sulla cultura pop è stato meno forte, essendo meno influente di Zara sulla vita quotidiana di chiunque.

L’obiettivo (che piaccia o meno, che si sia d’accordo o meno), però, è stato centrato. Ci riferiamo a Louis Vuitton e alla campagna con Jason Smith – il figlio di Will Smith dallo stile decisamente innovativo e creativo che, da anni ormai, ha elaborato outfit e combinazioni di capi che non devono appartenere ad uno o ad un altro genere (indossa gonne sovrapposte ad altri capi ormai da anni, per fare un esempio).
