Stop by the American Museum of Natural History (Central Park W & 79th St). Do you remember Ben Stiller in Night at the Museum where he had to deal with mummies and dinosaurs? Well, it was filmed here. This museum is in fact a classic of U.S. films and it is worth a visit even just for its atmosphere. Located in the Manhattan Upper West Side, the building will impress and charm you with its huge stone facade but it’s the interiors that will show its grandeur with 4 floors dedicated to the celebration of science in general and an area reserved to dinosaurs fossils.

Imagine a better world at the Strawberry Fields Memorial (Central Park). During your trip you will surely happen to stroll around the immense Central Park that gives its best during summer. Here, you can’t miss the Eastern part dedicated to the memory of the great John Lennon, featuring the IMAGINE mosaic donated to New York by the city of Naples.

Look for bargain books at the Strand Book Store (828 Broadway). This isn’t just a book store but a real city submerged by books of every genre and size. We are talking about over 18 miles of bookshelves with used and new books, historic and modern at any price, from $1 to $10. Whatever book you are looking for,  you can be sure to find it here. P.S. They also have a little stand in Central Park. What’s better than reading laying on the grass by a lake?

Walking on the High Line. An old train line transformed in a sort of elevated park that surrounds many areas of the city, starting from the Meatpacking District across Chelsea. During the summer you can meet several attractions and refreshment areas and it’s a different and unique way of visiting the various city districts while enjoying breathtaking city landscapes.

Looking for a collectible Chanel at What goes around comes back around (351 West Broadway, Soho) . We have to admit it: we are vintage shopping lovers to the bone and this shop is undoubtedly one of our favorites in New York. Located in SoHo, one of the most beautiful areas of New York and easily accessible from every part of the city, this store offers unique pieces during every period of the year and carries different brands including Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Céline.

Browsing through old dusty knickknacks at Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market (West 39th Street between 9th & 10th Avenues, Manhattan). Walking through flea markets looking for unique and vintage  pieces is what we love the most and if you love to do it too, this ( inserted in top places of the Shopping streets’ list of the National Geographic). A true vintage paradise among antiques, jewels and home accessories: impossible not to find anything!

Having a hamburger at Shake Shack (Madison Square Park). Very central and divinely good! This fast food chain is present almost all over the country and offers (according to us and the restaurants) the best street food available.

Trying the best hot dog at Nathan’s (Coney Island). Coney Island is one of those magic spots in NY and it’s worth a visit even just to try dog Nathan’s mega hot , that apparently invented it. You cannot miss of course the amusement park in front of the beach!

Sleeping at The New York EDITION for a night (5 Madison Avenue). Everybody deserves to be pampered, especially during the holidays, so we selected for you one of our favorite hotels in town that recently inaugurated. Here everything is perfect: the rooms, the restaurant with its starred chef and the breathtaking view, the pool rooms and the elegant bar where to end the evening with a great cocktail.

 

 

 

 

 

 

48 hours are such a short time if you consider all the attractions that the Big Apple has to offer on every level. But if you just have one weekend, why not going for something original? Here’s our unusual travel guide for a couple of days “in town”. Enjoy

Fare un giro al Museum of Natural History (Central Park W & 79th St).  Vi ricordate “Una notte al Museo” in cui Ben Stiller doveva vedersela con mummie e dinosauri? Beh è stato girato proprio qui: questo museo infatti è un classico anche del cinema Usa, e vale una visita anche solo per l’atmosfera che vi si respira. Situato praticamente sull’upper west side di Manhattan, già dall’esterno vi sentirete colpiti e affascinati dall’immensa facciata in pietra, ma è al proprio interno che il museo mostra la sua grandezza, con quattro piani di tributo alla scienza in generale e uno spazio dedicato ai fossili di dinosauri.

Immaginare un mondo migliore agli Strawberry Fields Memorial (Central Park). Sicuramente durante il vostro soggiorno vi troverete a passeggiare attraverso l’immenso Central Park, che soprattutto in estate dà il suo meglio. Qui non potete perdervi, nella zona est, l’area dedicata alla memoria del grande John Lennon con il bellissimo mosaico con la scritta “IMAGINE” regalato a New York dalla città di Napoli.

Cercare libri d’occasione da Strand Book Store (828 Broadway). Questa non è solo una libreria ma una vera e propria città sommersa da libri di qualsiasi genere e dimensione: pensate che si parla di 30km di scaffali pieni di volumi, usati e non, storici e moderni e di qualsiasi prezzo, da 1 a 10 dollari. Insomma, qualsiasi sia il titolo abbiate in mente di comprare qui lo troverete di sicuro! P.s. Hanno anche un chioschetto in Central Park: cosa c’è di meglio che leggere sdraiati sull’erba davanti al laghetto?

Fare una passeggiata sulla High Line. Una vecchia linea ferroviaria trasformata in una sorta di parco elevato che circonda molte aree della città, e parte dal dal Meatpacking District attraversando Chelsea. Durante il periodo estivo è possibile trovare diverse attrazioni oltre a diversi punti di ristoro lungo il percorso ed è un modo diverso e unico di visitare diversi distretti della città e godere di paesaggi cittadini mozzafiato.

Cercare una Chanel da collezione da What goes around comes back around (351 West Broadway, Soho) . Lo ammettiamo: siamo inguaribilmente amanti dello shopping vintage e questo è senza dubbio uno dei nostri preferiti a New York. Situato a SoHo, uno dei quartieri più belli di New York e facilmente accessibile da ogni parte della città, questo negozio ha a disposizione pezzi unici in ogni periodo dell’anno e di diversi brand tra cui appunto Chanel, Louis Vuitton e Céline.

Spulciare tra vecchi soprammobili impolverati all’Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market (West 39th Street between 9th & 10th Avenues, Manhattan). Fare un giro per i mercatini in cerca di pezzi unici e vintage è quello che più ci piace fare, e se è quello che preferite anche voi ecco allora uno dei mercati più grandi in città (inserito addirittura tra i primi posti della classifica Shopping street del National Geographic). Un vero paradiso del vintage tra pezzi di antiquariato, gioielli e oggetti per la casa: impossibile non trovare niente!

Farsi un hamburger da Shake Shack (Madison Square Park). Centralissimo e divinamente buono! Questa catena di fast food è ramificata in quasi tutta l’America, proponendo (a detta nostra e anche dei locali) lo street food più buono che c’è.

Provare l’hot dog per eccezione da Nathan’s (Coney Island). Coney Island è uno dei posti magici di NY e vale la pena farci un salto anche per provare il mega hot dog Nathan’s, che pare l’abbia inventato. E ovviamente fare un giro nel luna park che si trova davanti alla spiaggia!

Dormire una notte al The New York EDITION (5 Madison Avenue). Tutti hanno bisogno e meritano di essere coccolati sopratutto durante le vacanze e quindi abbiamo selezionato per voi uno dei nostri alberghi preferiti in città, che ha inaugurato da poco. Qui tutto è perfetto: dalla camere, al ristorante con chef stellato e con una vista mozzafiato, dalla sale da biliardo all’elegante bar dove concludere la serata con un ottimo cocktail.
