Gaston & Gastounette (6-7 Quai Saint-Pierre). As almost every restaurant in the area, its interiors
are quite elegant, but feature a homely and cozy atmosphere. The specialties to be absolutely tried from the menu include seafood, from fresh shellfish to sophisticated soups. The location of this restaurant is just as great: you will be dining overlooking the harbor.
Le Baoli (Boulevard de la Croisette). One of the busiest places in town, featuring spectacular interiors and outdoor space, dimmed lights, white couches and palm trees for a touch of magic. The cuisine is French and truly excellent; you will be able to choose among meat, seafood and risottos. The price range is a bit high but we believe it’s worth the try, even because the restaurant transforms into a club after dinner.
Philcat (Promenade de la Pantiero). Cannes does not necessarily equal to pricey restaurants. Its waterfront is filled with kiosks for quick stops. One of these is the Philcat, the ideal spot to find the traditional “pan bagnat” (typical of the nearby Nice), that is basically a sandwich stuffed with ingredients of your choice. Good, cheap and quick!
ART & ENTERTAINEMENT
Musée de la Castre (Place de la Catre, Le Suquet). Cannes also means art and culture. One of the unmissable stops is the museum located inside a castle of monks. Not far from the Croisette, this museum hosts very original and valuable exhibitions (mainly archeological), ranging from the Primitive Age to the Mediterranean ancient times. Ideal spot for a visit with kids.
Castle of Mandelieu La Napoule. One of the most sumptuous and evocative buildings of the French Riviera. Just a few minutes drive from Cannes this structure is very well worth visiting. Its location right over the sea is unique and the interiors don’t disappoint either. You can, in fact, walk through the gardens mentioned by the French Ministry among the most beautiful of the country. The Castle is open to visitors all year round!
Palais de Festival (Boulevard de la Croisette). The most important palace of the area and main attraction. At least once a year, the eyes of the world are on it, since it hosts the famous Festival. Besides being a wonderful building, its rooms host several exhibitions throughout the year. If you happen to be there during the Film Festival don’t miss the chance of bumping into the most famous Hollywood stars.
Palm Beach. You cannot leave Cannes without enjoying the sea and the sun of the French Riviera on the many beaches by the city. Are you thinking getting a spot on the beach could be extremely expensive? Well you are not too far from it. There are private beaches like the one of the Carlton Hotel, where the sun beds include luxury service, and there are also public and affordable beaches, as Palm Beach, enjoyable at a more moderate price. During the summer it is crowded with tourists so, wake up early to be the first to arrive!
Palais de Bulles (Théoule-sur-Mer). Not far from the center of Cannes, you’ll find this peculiar palace completely designed with circular shapes, bought by the designer of Italian origins Pierre Cardin during the 1980’s, electing it as his house-museum. The interiors of the building are enriched with 17th and 18th century artworks of great value, purchased by Cardin himself. Raf Simons chose it as the location for the Dior Cruise 2016 show.
SHOPPING
Not just restaurants, beaches and architecture… Cannes is obviously also shopping! The high-quality of lifestyle still leaves room for different kinds of shopping for all pockets. If you are looking for quality at affordable prices, we suggest walking through rue D’Antibes (where stores of big chains like Zara are located) or rue Meynadier, where you can find typical local shops that offer convenient prices. For bigger budgets the Croisette offers the perfect place to shop. This is where all the luxury boutiques are located.

Ecco per voi una breve guida (cosa fare, dove mangiare, cosa vedere) per chi ha a disposizione solo un paio di giorni e che vi aiuterà a non perdervi le attrazioni della città e a mangiare nei ristoranti più belli e soprattutto più buoni. Gaston & Gastounette (6-7 Quai Saint-Pierre). Come quasi ogni ristorante che si trova in questa zona è piuttosto elegante all’interno, ma anche molto accogliente e dall’atmosfera familiare. Nel menu, le specialità da provare assolutamente sono a base di pesce, dai molluschi freschi alle raffinate zuppe. Ottima anche la posizione: praticamente si cena guardando il porto.
Le Baoli (Boulevard de la Croisette). Sicuramente uno dei ristoranti più frequentati della città, dall’ambiente interno ed esterno meraviglioso, con luci soffuse, divani bianchi e palme a rendere tutto più magico. La cucina è francese e davvero molto buona: potete scegliere tra carne, pesce e risotti. Il prezzo è abbastanza elevato ma secondo noi vale la pena provarlo anche perché dopo cena il locale diventa un club.
Philcat (Promenade de la Pantiero). Cannes non è necessariamente ristoranti costosi, tutt’altro! Il suo lungomare è disseminato di baracchini a cui fare una sosta veloce. Proprio come il Philcat, posto ideale in cui trovare il tradizionale “pan bagnat” (originario della vicina Nizza) che altro non è che un panino imbottito con ingredienti a vostro piacimento. Buono, economico e rapido!

Molto vicino alla Croisette, ospita esposizioni (per lo più a tema archeologico) molto originali e di gran valore che vanno dall’epoca primitiva alle antichità del Mediterraneo. Ideale anche per una visita con i bambini.
Palais de Bulles (Théoule-sur-Mer). Poco distante dal centro di Cannes, è un curiosissimo palazzo completamente disegnato in forme sferiche, acquistato intorno agli anni ottanta dallo stilista di origini italiane Pierre Cardin che lo elesse come sua casa museo. Il complesso è arricchito all’interno con opere di grande valore del Seicento e Settecento, acquistate dallo stesso Cardin. Raf Simons l’ha scelto come location per la sfilata Dior Cruise 2016.
Le Château Mandelieu de la Napoule. Uno degli edifici più sontuosi e suggestivi della Costa Azzurra. Non si trova propriamente a Cannes ma è facilissimo arrivarci con pochi minuti di macchina e vale davvero la pena visitarlo. La sua posizione, sulle sponde del mare, è davvero particolare e anche l’interno non delude le aspettative, infatti ci si può addentrare nei giardini interni, citati dal Ministero Francese come tra i più belli della nazione. Il Castello è visitabile tutto l’anno!
Palais de Festival (Boulevard de la Croisette). Il palazzo più importante nonché la principale attrazione turistica della zona: gli occhi di tutto il mondo almeno una volta all’anno sono rivolti verso esso perché ospita il famoso Festival. Oltre a essere molto bello esteticamente, al proprio interno ospita durante l’anno mostre nella grandi sale. Chiaramente se siete lì durante il Film Festival non perdetevi l’occasione di incrociare gli attori più famosi di Hollywood.
Palm Beach. Non potete andare a Cannes e non godervi il mare e il sole della Costa Azzurra nelle numerose spiagge adiacenti alla cittadina. Pensate che accaparrarsi un lembo di spiaggia costi una cifra esorbitante? Non siete tanto lontani dalla realtà perché ci sono delle spiagge private, tipo quella del Carlton Hotel, in cui i lettini includono nel prezzo un servizio di lusso, ma ci sono anche delle spiagge pubbliche e accessibili, come appunto Palm Beach, in cui accomodarsi con un budget più modesto. Ovviamente in estate diventa colma di turisti quindi svegliatevi presto così da essere trai i primi ad arrivarci!
SHOPPING
Non solo ristoranti, mare o architettura.. Cannes ovviamente è anche shopping! Nonostante l’alta qualità della vita, la città offre diversi tipi di shopping per tutte le tasche. Per chi cerca qualità ma comunque non vuole spendere un patrimonio, il consiglio è di farsi una passeggiata in rue D’Antibes (dove si trovano i negozi delle grandi catene come Zara per intenderci) oppure in rue Meynadier dove ci si può imbattere in negozietti tipici e caratteristici a buon mercato. Per chi invece ha disposizione un budget più importante, allora la zona adatta è sicuramente la Croisette, dove si trovano le boutique di lusso.
